Twilight run at Blackbushe Airport

Maria Garcia – Physio
On the 17th September the children and I took part in the Twilight 5k run at Blackbushe airport.
We were extremely lucky as it was a beautiful late summer evening and we were able to watch the change in colours of the sky as the sun began to set.
We had never completed the run before and with 3 children you never how they are going to be on the day. The eldest, thinks he is going to be the next Mo Farrah and wanted to sprint all the way round. The middle one, extremely determined at everything and I have no worries that she will get round, whatever it takes. Finally the youngest, who can spend hours chasing the football but on our training runs would get a stitch after 100m!
As we arrived their nerves settled when we realized it was very family orientated and lots of children, and adults, on bikes and scooters and even a few in fancy dress.
It was all very well organized and started with a fun warm up. As the start gun went, Emile sprinted off and the girls and I started with the crowd and just enjoyed the evening looking at the different aircraft as we went round. As predicted Elyse got her stitch, so Angelie went off on her own and Elyse and I took our time and enjoyed the evening. Luckily after half way round she found her rhythm and we were able to get some pace. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and really well organized. I would certainly recommend the event as a fun run, scoot or bike ride.
There was an option to do 10km so I’ve challenged the children that’s what they can aim for next year, although the youngest agreed but only on her scooter!
Footnote from Jackie to thank Maria very much for raising £270 for the Centre in the process.
