Samson Centre Fundraising

Paul Dimmock Fundraiser

The extensive programme of refurbishing the entire range of Gym equipment is almost complete, the funding from SUEZ and Peter Harrison Foundations generated £60,000 and our Trustees generously contributed a further £10,000 to ensure the gym will be one of the best if not the best equipped MS Centre gym in the country. A generous donation by a Samson Centre member of a new Leg Press machine has helped ensure the line-up of equipment is some of the best available. The new equipment has been rigorously vetted, by Mike the Conditioning coach, Chris the Gym Manager and Sara to ensure there is a direct link from Physiotherapy through to the gym. Final delivery of the new equipment manufactured in the USA is expected by the middle of February.

Disposal of existing Gym Equipment through open invite, will be available to Samson Centre members, Wey Kayak Club Members, Sub Aqua Club members, other MS Centres, other Kayak Clubs and through Active Surrey to local Sports Clubs – funds generated from the sale of the equipment, will help support the operations at the Waterside Centre.

Fund raising activities with the Surrey Law Society continue with a range of activities, including an amazing £4,000 generated at the annual awards, other fundraising activities including Quiz night took place in November.

Work with Surrey University and Godalming College continues, Surrey University students from the Para Medic Society have adopted the Samson Centre as their chosen charity, staging a Charity Football match, a £1,000 raised from event. The students are also raising additional funds to support the work of the Samson Centre. Godalming College students studying Hospitality BTEC are also busy raising funds to be shared with the Samson Centre and Ukrainian Refuge Outflow Appeal, the Quiz night taking place early December.

In addition, a funding application for £17,000 has been submitted to Surrey University (Research) towards supporting the physiotherapy service.

An application is being developed to Aviva foundation for £15,000 to assist with support for the Physiotherapy / Exercise Therapy support and Community Foundation for Surrey £5k Hardship Fund.
