A Quick Update from Jackie Payne

Jackie Payne, Centre Manager

After the Christmas break, it’s great to see so many friendly faces back in the Centre. A few things that you may be interested in:

  • The Onslow Village W.I. raised a very nice £700 for the Centre from their own Christmas Fair. 3 of their ladies are visiting on 4 Feb.
  • Gibbs & Dandy in Farnborough raised a brilliant £1100 for us from a Christmas raffle held at their premises. Georgie (their Branch Manager) came in to visit the Centre on 19 Jan.
  • £700 was raised in December from a lovely jewellery sale held at a supporter’s house in Shalford
  • Carol Kitching is kindly applying for licences for our 2022 street collections which will start in the spring. We will need lots of volunteers for our collections.
  • We have 5 or 6 potential new oxygen operator volunteers to train up as we are hoping to expand the length of some of the days with their help. Many thanks to Duncan Howe from the diving club (who is a very longstanding and loyal Lead Oxygen Operator) who is carrying out the training of our new volunteers over the coming weeks and months
  • I have now filled 20 spaces for the London 10k run on 10 July 2022. I have 10 spaces left to fill – please let me know if you know of any 10k runners. We pay for your space in the race, supply you with a Samson running vest and ask that each runner raise a minimum of £200 for the Centre. This is an important fundraiser for us, particularly as this has event has not taken place for the past 2 years due to a certain virus
  • Lovely new branded poster in the lounge area of the Centre with some faces on that you may recognise! I will order another copy for the oxygen area too.
