Megan’s Story

Rowley and I did some volunteering for The Samson Centre for MS this morning as they were holding a street collection in my local area. I enjoyed volunteering and giving a bit of my time to this wonderful charity who help so many people including myself.
I have been visiting the Samson Centre in Guildford for around 8 months now to receive Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for 1 hour every week. Although the centre is primarily for those with MS, they do allow people with other disabilities like myself to benefit from their fantastic facilities, and for this I am incredibly grateful!
I have now completed around 40 hours of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and have seen many benefits including the ability to stand for longer periods without feeling lightheaded or fainting, my Crohn’s Disease going into remission and no longer having to deal with urgency and blood loss, more energy, improved mental health and better sleep!
The oxygen therapy suite is run by volunteer oxygen operators and relies on donations to keep it up and running. Those visiting the centre for oxygen therapy are asked to make a minimum donation towards the cost of each session, which is far more affordable than going for treatment elsewhere. I am so grateful to the Samson Centre for making this life-changing therapy available to more people, as it sadly isn’t funded by the NHS!
Oxygen therapy is just one of the many services they offer at the Samson Centre, if you’re interested in learning more about the charity please do check out their website where you can also donate to support their important work.
