New Year Update from the Physiotherapy and Gym Team

We continue to follow the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and the government guidelines for infection control during this current wave of Covid.  On return to the Centre in January, we ramped up all our infection control measures including cleaning of equipment and treatment areas.  We have been fortunate not to have any chain of transmission to be linked with the service and this is all down to the hard work of the team and the members following the guidance.

As healthcare professionals, we continue to follow the guidance on PPE which does include screening of all members prior to their session and staff continue to need to wear facemasks for most tasks.  As we are all aware, wearing facemasks, is tiring and staff need to take regular rest breaks and keep hydrated.  Thank you to everyone for your patience and co-operation, it really makes a big difference.

Staffing Update

In November, we welcomed Emma Wallace to our team.  Until recently Emma has been working for the NHS and is an experienced gym instructor with a sports science degree.  She is an excellent addition to our team and is working with Mike in the gym and the physios in the hall.  Emma W works Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 9-1pm.

We also have a new physiotherapist, Emma Rousell.  Emma R works Tuesdays and Wednesdays, she has lots of neurological rehab experience and her arrival means we have a good level of physiotherapy experience spread over the week.

Living Well with MS Talks

If you have any topics that you’d like us to cover over the next few months, please let Sara know.  It would be good to get these talks up and running again a little more frequently.  In the past we have covered fatigue management, brain health, balance, spasticity management, bladder and bowels management.
