Samson Staff sponsored walk – a great success!

On Saturday 9th September, notable for being the hottest day of the year, 12 members of staff successfully completed the Samson staff sponsored walk. The challenge was to walk either a half or full marathon distance, with the whole route starting and finishing at the Samson Centre.

After leaving the Centre at 7: 30am, staff followed the route along the River Wey before rising high into the Surrey Hills. Here the route took in the Chantries, St Martha’s Hill, Shere,  Gomshall, the Pilgrims Way and Newlands Corner to name a few landmarks.  It then descended and wound it’s way towards Bramley and back to the Centre along the River Wey.  Staff were very grateful to see the finish line here at 6pm! 3 members of staff completed the half marathon distance and 9 completed 26 miles.

Despite being a long and challenging route, in very warm weather, morale was high and spurred on by the ever increasing and generous donations from our supporters. Staff even managed to resist the temptation to stop at one of the numerous beer gardens which lined the route back to the Centre along the River Wey! Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us during this event. So far we have raised over £5,500 for the Centre, which is incredible!
