Your New Trustee with a Plea
David Kitching, Trustee and the man who sorts out the maintenance and technical jobs
Having worked with John Hambly and others to create the Samson C entre at the start of the millennium. (see Chapter 28 ( page 217) in Samson Rising) it is great to see how far we have all progressed by maximising the use of the Waterside Centre for the benefit of all.
I have taken on the Trusteeship to help with the coordinating of all the day to day (non Physio) things that always seem necessary within the building structure and the associated services.
I am very aware of our limited budgets so am always on the look out for other volunteers that can contribute a small amount of time using existing skills to help get things done.
Current 10 point list of Projects.
1. Sorting and filing of the “building” paperwork combining the three major buildings contracts with the integrated services that keep it all going.
2. Low voltage alarm system for all the disabled toilets, gymnasium and Oxygen centre to make a common attention point outside Jackie’s Office.
3. Updating where possible lighting with lower consumption LED panels and replacing emergency lighting.
4. Improving the comfort of the Oxygen chambers by reducing temperatures, labelling, seating etc.
5. Upgrading the Plant Room with improved drainage, control of standby compressor, insulating roof and buffer tanks, lighting, ventilation, CCTV, remote monitoring etc.
6. Improve Oxygen pipe connectors and an upgrade of the on the Wall extract system.
7. Additional displays above multichamber panel for temperature information, compressor healthy and other useful monitoring.
8. Improve effectiveness of oxygen analysers for panel, underfloor and open area.
9. Make multichamber drain valve accessible from plant room.
10. Add CCTV, temperature control and alarm system to gymnasium.
From the above we need some volunteers with Carpentry, DIY, Plumbing, low voltage electrics, IT and secretarial knowledge who can spare some time to help drive these projects forward. As always there are Gardening, Window Cleaning, Painting and decorating and general upkeep tasks that are always looking for some extra support.
